  2023 CAA FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Jaden Shirden, Monmouth,...Shirden is the first repeat winner of the CAA Offensive Player of the Year award since UNH's Rick Santos received three straight honors from 2005-07. The junior ran for 1,478 yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming the first player to lead the FCS in rushing in back-to-back years since Sacramento State's Charles Roberts in 1998-99. Shirden topped the 100-yard mark seven times and tallied over 200 yards twice this season, including 276 yards and 4 TD's vs. Hampton on Oct. 14. He added 20 receptions for 120 yards and a TD. Shirden currently has 3,697 career rushing yards, which is the 4th-most of any active player in FCS football. - CAA Football

  2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: Jaden Shirden, Monmouth, RB, So.,...Shirden finished the regular season with the most rushing yardage in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision at 1,722 yards, scoring 13 touchdowns. The West Haven, CT native averaged 7.8 yards per carry and a NCAA best 156.5 rushing yards per game. A home-run threat every time he touched the ball, Shirden had nine touchdown runs of 50+ yards, including a 95 yarder against Fordham. His 1,722 rushing yards are the second most in school history while his 156.5 ypg and 299 yards against Fordham set new Monmouth career marks. - Monmouth Football

  2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: Owen Wright, Monmouth, FB/HB, Gr.,...Wright earns First Team All-CAA honors at the fullback position after leading the CAA in touchdowns with 17, including 16 rushing scores. Wright finished with the fourth most touchdowns among all players in Division I and recorded a season-long run of 99 yards in a win over UAlbany.   OCT 17 NEC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marquez McCray, Sacred Heart, Quarterback, Sr., 6-2, 200 lbs., Philadelphia, PA/St. Joseph, Week 7 Stats: 405 pass yards, 21-30, 70.0 pass completion percentage, 1 TD pass, 0 INT, 7 rushes, 31 rush yards, 4.1 ypc, 1 TD rush,...McCray put together one of the best performances in the FCS to date this season in a victory over Stonehill. The senior threw for a career-high 405 yards, marking the 11th-best output by a quarterback in the nation, to power Sacred Heart to its third straight win and a 2-0 start in NEC play. In addition, McCray completed 70.0 percent of passes and was not intercepted. The Pioneers' signal caller finished the game with a whopping 436 all-purpose yards after he added 31 rushing yards and one touchdown on seven carries. Highlighting his performance was a 75-yard touchdown hurl in the closing seconds of the third quarter to teammate LJ Haskett, which created a 20-point cushion for Sacred Heart. In the final seconds of the third quarter to create a 20-point cushion for the Pioneers heading down the stretch.   Marquez McCray threw for 405 yards and a touchdown and was one of four Sacred Heart players to run for a touchdown as the Pioneers raced past Stonehill 40-27 on Saturday. The Pioneers (4-2, 2-0 Northeast Conference) led 20-7 at the half before McCray scored on a 3-yard run to cap an 83-yard drive and then he connected with LJ Hackett for a 75-yard shocker. The long pass came one play after the Skyhawks (3-1, 1-1) scored. Ashur Carraha was 18 of 28 for 221 yards and three touchdowns for Stonehill.McCray was 21 of 30 and Malik Grant led the rushing offense with 104 yards as the defending conference champions won their 13th straight home game.   SEPT 26 NEC PRIME PERFORMER: Marquez McCray, SHU (QB, Sr.),...McCray was instrumental in Sacred Heart's overtime win at Dartmouth, which snapped the Big Green's FCS-leading 20-game non-conference winning streak. The senior quarterback went 31-of-36 and threw for a season-best 274 yards (86.1 completion %), including a four-yard touchdown pass to Rob DiNota to cap a six-play, 75-yard drive in the second quarter.   SEPT 26 CAA FOOTBALL CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jaden Shirden, So., RB, Monmouth (West Haven, Conn./Cheshire Academy),...Shirden rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns on a career-high 22 carries (9.6 ypc) as Monmouth earned a 49-42 road victory at #9 Villanova. The sophomore had a 56-yard TD run in the third quarter before scoring the game-winner from 16 yards out with 46 seconds left.   Jaden Shirden rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns, Owen Wright gained 114 yards on six carries with two scores, and Monmouth beat Albany 38-31 on Saturday for its fourth straight victory. Wright became the third player in program history to run for a 99-yard touchdown. He added his 13th touchdown of the season on a direct snap midway though the fourth quarter for a 38-24 lead.

Albany got within a touchdown with 3:38 left in the fourth. After a Monmouth punt, the Great Danes started at their 20 with 51 seconds left and got to the Hawks' 26 before spiking it with three seconds left. But Reese Poffenbarger's pass was broken up by Mike Reid to end it. Monmouth (4-2, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) also had a 100-yard receiver as Dymere Miller caught six passes for 116 yards. Tony Muskett threw for 187 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He became the fifth player in program history to top 5,000 career yards passing. Poffenbarger was 22 of 39 for 263 yards with a touchdown for Albany (1-4. 0-2). Todd Sibley carried it 26 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns. - AP College Football
